PQ-NE Action Group reaches settlement agreement with Lennar Homes 

Redevelopment, fueled by San Diego’s mandate to build more houses, is creating concern for many communities. The media is following our group’s efforts to keep new housing projects safe for residents, including a recent legal win that is setting a City precedent. 

In August 2023, PQ-NE Action Group settled its lawsuit against Lennar Homes, resolving its legal challenge against the Junipers housing project. This agreement includes actions in pursuit of a safer, more livable environment for residents of northeast Rancho Peñasquitos.

Deal lets construction resume on large Rancho Peñasquitos project — but lawsuit could still complicate housing approvals.

A judge had halted work on the 536-unit Junipers development in February, ruling that analysts had ignored the cumulative impacts of two nearby projects. Residents living near the project agreed to settle their lawsuit and let Lennar Homes resume building in exchange for a new wildfire evacuation route, more park space, more trees and some road upgrades to ease traffic congestion.
