2004 Traffic Counts
The latest counts or Average Daily Trips (ADTs) that
we've been able to find were taken in 2003-04 and are reported by SANDAG online at

(see page 13 for Carmel Mtn Rd.and page 54 for Peñasquitos Dr.).

Community Plan Traffic Estimates
The Community Plan Traffic Element shows the
average daily traffic trips (ADT) at build out for the community.
This Community plan was approved/adopted in 1993.
Transportation Element of Rancho Peñasquitos Community Plan, revised
in 1993.
SANDAG Report Year 2004
Comparison
The ADTs for Carmel Mtn. Rd. may be
inaccurrate - traffic has increased dramatically since Hwy. 56
opened. If the numbers show an increase along Carmel Mtn. Rd. from Peñasquitos Blvd. to Peñasquitos Drive
since 2002 - where is the increase from Peñasquitos Drive to
the interstate? ADTs in a nutshell...
-
Carmel Mtn .Rd going north from Rancho
Peñasquitos Blvd. to Peñasquitos Dr., the ADTs were 18.5 thousand in
2004, (increased from 14.4 thousand in 2002).
-
Carmel Mtn. Rd. between Peñasquitos Dr. &
I-15 saw 24.4 thousand ADTs going north from Peñasquitos Dr.
intersection to I-15 in 2004. Note: ADTs
haven't changed since 2000.
-
Peñasquitos Dr. going north between Carmel Mtn Rd. &
Almazon St. saw 15.3 thousand ADTs going up hill into the community
in 2004 - down one thousand since previous counts. There aren't
fewer homes up here, so is the count accurate?
-
If counts were to be done today, the ADTs
would be higher yet due to the delays at Hwy. 56 & I-15 interchange
ramps offering limited access to either highway in any direction.
Drivers exit Hwy. 56 at Black Mtn. Rd. & Rancho Peñasquitos Blvd. and
use Carmel Mtn. Rd. north to access I-15 or cross into Carmel Mtn.
Ranch or to access Rancho Bernardo.
